Dunsmuir has a mess on its hands and on its City Park ball field. The problem stems from dog droppings left behind. Dunsmuir High School football coaches have reported that their players and others have come up off the ground after a tackle smeared.

 

The issue pits dog owners’ access to the ball field against the hygiene of high schoolers. Pet owners say they enjoy the wide open space the ball field offers, completely fenced so they can safely run their pets. Sports coaches who clean the field before home games say that those pets’ wastes are a safety hazard, and that the ball park should be padlocked to protect their players.
